The brief was simple but specific: the front and back covers should work as one continuous illustration while still holding their own individually.  So I designed the cover as a mirrored scene—a kind of visual loop.
On the front, the girl stands on a house balcony at night, looking out at a beach littered with objects from the poem. On the back, we shift to daylight. The same girl now stands atop the lighthouse, looking back toward the house from the first cover.
The cover doesn’t try to explain the poems—it just echoes their mood, layering symbols and space to leave room for interpretation, just like the writing itself.
